Internship With Plum Pottery - Indulging in the Arts & History of Ceramics
Intersession Description:
For the two weeks of Intersession, I plan to take on an Internship at Plum Pottery. Pottery has been around since ancient humans roamed the earth. Some of the earliest examples of pottery date as far back to 29,000 BC. The art of Pottery has long been a medium to depict stories, history, culture, and much more. Clay is found nearly everywhere around the globe. Early humans had access to this pliable material, allowing them to mold and shape the world they observed around them. I want to dive into the physical practice myself, creating and working with my hands. When I’m not working in the studio, I can travel to other pottery studios, galleries, exhibits, and public ceramic art to learn more about the culture behind the practice.
Goals/Learning Outcome:
During intercession, I want to confidently say I have improved upon my artisan skills by working with clay. I also hope to become more knowledgeable in the history of Pottery and Ceramics. With all the techniques, history, and experience that I receive throughout my two weeks I hope to create an informative blog which shows what i’ve learned about Pottery and my time working as an Intern with Plum Pottery.
